Thanks - seeing
I just finished reading “1,000 Gifts” by Ann Voskamp.
And I’m confessing now. . .I’ve only just recently crossed the 100-mark on my list of 1,000.
Not because the gifts aren’t there to count.
Or because counting gifts is that difficult.
It’s having eyes to see the gifts . . . and an open hand to receive them.
Counting gifts requires a different perspective.
Of the world.
Of Him.
And our lives.
It’s looking at the earth as “full of the goodness of the Lord.” (Psalm 33:5)
It’s giving thanks “. . .for He is good.” (Psalm 107:1)
It’s seeing our lives as He does. . . as His own GOOD work. (Phil. 1:6)
Counting gifts is receiving from His hand His gifts given in goodness.
It’s seeing all He gives as grace.
“Benefits.”
Better than we deserve.
“We don’t have to change what we see. Only the way we see.” – Ann Voskamp
So the list continues. . .
#117 – A summer sunset
#118 – A baby’s laugh
#119 – A description of yourself and your struggles in Scripture
#120 – The same solution today as it was 4,000 years ago
#121 – Our timeless God
#122 – An encouraging word
#123 – Christ-centered conversation
“Oh, give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good.” (Psalm 118:29)
What gift(s) can you give Him thanks for today?
