Truth or Lie #17: No Higher, Holier Calling

[Don’t miss out on the free book giveaway at the end of this post!]

Truth:    In the will of God, there is no higher, holier calling than to be a wife and a mother.

Lie:         God made a mistake when He called me to be a wife and a mother.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss, author of Lies Women Believe: and the Truth that Sets Them Free, has two excellent chapters on the role of wives and mothers and the truths that are vital to living that calling in a Biblical way.

Truly, in the will of God, it is a high, holy calling to be a wife and a mother.

My dear friend Rebecca and 3 of her children

But I would like to reword this 17th truth.

Not because I’m single.  (Nancy Leigh DeMoss, author of these chapters on marriage and family, is single.)

Not to minimize this truth.  (Marriage and family is a wonderful calling!)

I reword this truth to put the emphasis where I believe the author was ultimately putting her emphasis.

Truth or Lie #17(b): There is no higher, holier calling
than to be in the middle of God’s will.

·         If you’ve been called to be a wife and mother, there is no higher, holier calling.

Why?
Because you are in the center of God’s will for you right now.

You’ve been called to pour your life into your husband and children.

·         If you’ve been called to be single, there is no higher, holier calling.

Why?
Because you are in the center of God’s will for you right now.

You’ve been called to pour your life into the incredible opportunities all around you that wouldn’t be yours otherwise.

·         If you’ve been called to be an empty nester, there is no higher, holier calling.

Why?
Because you are in the center of God’s will for you right now.

You’ve been called to pour your life into this season with the time-worn wisdom you’ve gained in the last season.

·         If you’ve been called to marriage without children, there is no higher, holier calling.

Why?
Because you are in the center of God’s will for you right now.

You’ve been called to pour your life into your husband and the needy lives the Lord brings your way.

·         If you’ve been called to be a single mother, there is no higher, holier calling.

Why?
Because you are in the center of God’s will for you right now.

You’ve been called to pour your life into your children—gifts from God who need a double portion.

The truth is . . . no matter where we find ourselves, you and I have been called to that place and called to pour out our lives there.

Why?

Because there is no higher, holier calling than to be in the middle of God’s will.
