What Is God Doing?

“I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass;
I have purposed it, I will also do it.” – Isaiah 46:11

Life is full of tough questions.

Out of them all, we probably tend to ask this question the most, “What is God doing?”

I love to study the character of God.
I agree with most of you reading this post that God’s ways are beyond ours, and it’s the better part of wisdom to simply trust Him.

But over and over again, I find myself asking the question "What is God doing?" and wanting an answer in writing.

Recently, I found my answer – an answer that fits any and every situation.

Paul David Tripp in his book, Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands, writes:

“At any moment in time, the right answer to the question,
‘What is God doing?’ is “Accomplishing His plan.’” (p.29)

Next time you’re baffled by His ways . . .
Next time life doesn’t make sense . . .
Next time you ask the question “What is God doing?”. . .

Rest assured that He is right on schedule; He is at work; He is accomplishing His plan.

He has purposed His plan for you and for me.

And He is bringing it to pass. (Isaiah 46:11)

  1. There is so much freedom when I realize (and I need constant reminders of this!) that He is in the business of accomplishing His plan, which is to conform me to the image of His Son. He receives all the glory and I receive all the benefit.

    1. That is so true, Violet. Thank you for this reminder!

  2. Bethany,

Your last line made me stop and go "Hmm" in delight, because you're right. "Accomplishing his plan" Beautiful.

    1. Hi, Jennifer! Yes, in the midst of our own confusion, it's easy to forget that God isn't confused. He knows exactly what He's doing. If we understood things as He does, I think we'd choose the same thing He chooses for us.

      Thanks for stopping by!
